About the role

The Retail Sales Associate works in the VMFA Shop, providing guests with knowledgeable product information and exceptional customer service. This part‑time position reports to shop management and contributes to a welcoming, inclusive environment for all visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Assist museum guests with product selection, offering detailed knowledge of merchandise and collections.
• Maintain a balanced cash drawer and process transactions accurately.
• Complete mandatory training and stay informed about new products, events, and exhibitions.
• Keep the sales floor clean, organized, and visually appealing.
• Collaborate with staff and volunteers to promote a respectful and inclusive atmosphere.

• Ability to read, write, and follow directions and instructions.
• Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
