Retail Certified Pharmacy Technician (Monroe, LA)

About the role

The Retail Certified Pharmacy Technician works under close supervision to deliver medications, refill automated dispensing machines, and manage pharmacy inventory. The role involves entering prescription data, preparing IV admixtures, and providing customer service at the pharmacy window.

Key responsibilities

• Fill medication orders, price manual orders, and restock pharmacy inventory, including the IV room.
• Prepare IV admixtures and other extemporaneous compounds using aseptic technique.
• Enter physician orders and patient medication information into the pharmacy order entry system, flagging any discrepancies.
• Operate and maintain automated dispensing machines and pharmacy computer systems.
• Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, filing, and greeting nurses and physicians.

Required profile

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification from the state Board of Pharmacy.
• Preferred: at least 1 year of hospital pharmacy experience.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call shifts.

Required skills

• Computer data entry and retrieval of patient information.
