Respiratory Therapist – PRN

About the role

Vail Health Hospital is seeking a PRN Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive respiratory care across the patient care floors. The therapist will act as a resource for the respiratory and health‑care team, delivering direct patient care and supporting emergency response teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on the floors, including performing diagnostic cardiology procedures such as EKG, cardiac event recorder, Holter monitoring, EEG, pulmonary function testing, peak flow measurements, pulse oximetry titration walks, and stress tests.
• Draw arterial blood gases, run samples, maintain and troubleshoot the analyzer, and interpret results according to Joint Commission/CAP/CLIA regulations.
• Participate in Trauma, Code Blue, and Rapid Response Team emergencies, assisting with airway establishment and maintenance.
• Train and educate current and new staff in the Respiratory Service Area and contribute to competency validation.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards and communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and the health‑care team.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of acute‑care hospital experience accredited by the Joint Commission, including neonatal and pediatric critical care.
• Colorado Respiratory Therapist license and registration with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS.
• Ability to complete online learning requirements and proficient in English reading, writing, and speaking.
