Resource Specialist

About the role

The Resource Specialist serves as the first point of contact for individuals seeking assistance, providing a welcoming and compassionate experience while connecting them to appropriate services and programs throughout Skagit County.

Key responsibilities

• Answer assigned phone lines, screen callers and direct them to the appropriate staff or department.
• Greet, welcome, screen and direct all visitors, donors, and community members entering the agency.
• Administer intake forms, assess eligibility, coordinate referrals, and provide warm handoffs to program staff.
• Assist clients with completing applications, scheduling appointments, and issuing vouchers or outreach essentials.
• Maintain accurate data entry, track calls and requests, and keep the reception area tidy.
• Provide clerical support, cover breaks for colleagues, and represent the agency at other locations as needed.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED required; AA degree in Social Services preferred.
• Previous customer service experience and a desire to work in social services.
• Valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance for work‑related travel.
• Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to defuse difficult situations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft 365, Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
• Basic clerical abilities such as filing, data entry, and accurate record keeping.
