Remote Senior Bookkeeper - U.S. Trucking, Equipment Rentals & Truck Repair

About the role

A small business running a trucking operation, an equipment rental service and a truck repair shop is looking for a remote Senior Bookkeeper. Financial data is split across shop software, a transportation management system (TMS) and Xero, and the goal is clearer financial reporting on revenue, operating expenses, equipment loans, rentals, maintenance and depreciation.

Key responsibilities

• Bring together financial information from the shop software, TMS and Xero to show how each part of the business performs.
• Get the books up to date, reconcile accounts and help collect receipts and missing records.
• Work with the dispatch, shop and accounting teams to build a process that keeps everything organized going forward.
• Produce reliable reports showing what each part earns, its operating costs and cash remaining after equipment loan payments.

Required profile

• Experience handling month-end close for a U.S. business.
• Takes initiative, asks questions and follows up until the numbers are right.
• Some overlap with Chicago business hours so you can work directly with the teams; availability in U.S. Central Time should be stated in the application.
• Experience in trucking, equipment rentals or truck repair is a plus.

Required skills

• Xero is a big plus.
