Reliability Engineer

About the role

The Reliability Engineer will join the RivianVW joint venture to develop next‑generation low‑voltage electric architectures for vehicles. You will guide ECU designs, ensuring they meet mission and reliability targets while addressing failure modes early in the development cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary Design‑for‑Reliability (DfR) expert for hardware design and architecture teams.
• Establish design guidelines, identify electronic failure modes, and define standard countermeasures.
• Develop validation strategies, physics‑of‑failure reliability specifications, and accelerated testing methods.
• Lead root‑cause failure investigations and collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and analysis labs.
• Audit contract manufacturers on‑site to ensure DFMEA and PFMEA recommendations are implemented.
• Analyze fleet and field data to detect emerging risks and inform future ECU design standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
• Strong technical background in PCBA, electronics, control systems, and thermal management.
• Experience with FMEA processes (DFMEA/PFMEA) and leading cross‑functional teams.
• Ability to work with statistical reliability tools and accelerated testing methods.
