Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Engineer

About the role

Amentum is recruiting a Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Engineer to support facility maintenance operations at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. The engineer provides technical leadership and takes full responsibility for the technical, administrative and coordination work of assigned systems and program elements, ensuring they meet customer and user expectations for performance, reliability, quality and schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Give technical direction to technicians, engineers, inspectors, contractors and others on maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and operation of assigned systems, including acting as console operator for large test operations and controlling power, HVAC and other critical utilities
• Lead troubleshooting, failure analysis, corrective actions and accident reports, and monitor their performance
• Nurture a culture of RCM across all staff levels and develop applications of predictive testing and inspection technologies to save costs
• Ensure safe operations throughout the lifecycle of systems, including compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, Armed Services and NASA regulations, and approved deviations based on sound technical analysis
• Perform or review technical analyses such as chemical process, cost and option, thermal or electrical load, fluid flow, structural, operational compliance, functional and compatibility analyses
• Prepare technical documentation for specifications, safety analyses, maintenance and operator training, and coordinate scheduling and status with Amentum, the Government and contractors

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline with 8 years of experience in facilities and/or utilities maintenance, or a master's degree with 6 years of related experience
• Equivalent education or experience is acceptable
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex engineering information and terminology
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including conveying technical, budgetary and planning information
• Position may require travel and the ability to pass and maintain a security clearance

Required skills

• Thorough working knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) program elements
• Thorough working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is preferred
