Registered Nurse (RN 1-3) – Smyrna, GA

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN 1, RN 2, or RN 3) to support public health initiatives in Smyrna and the surrounding Cobb and Douglas County areas. This full‑time position works under general supervision to deliver professional nursing care, promote health, and respond to emergencies and disaster situations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive health assessments for individuals and communities.
• Participate in community needs assessments and identify high‑risk populations.
• Develop and implement targeted health interventions based on identified needs and available resources.
• Provide nursing care during disasters, emergencies, and biological/chemical incidents.
• Collaborate with local agencies to protect and improve public health.

Required profile

• Associate degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
• Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license.
• CPR certification.
• Completion of a Public Health Nursing (PHN) course within one year of hire.
• For RN 2: at least one year of nursing experience or prior PHN experience.
