Registered Nurse 3 – Admissions Unit

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Registered Nurse 3 to work in the Admissions Unit at Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta. This full‑time, day‑shift position provides direct nursing care to patients in a behavioral health setting.

Key responsibilities

• Assess client health problems, record vital signs, and document findings.
• Review current medications and treatments, and notify physicians or psychiatrists for orders.
• Administer oral, sublingual, and intramuscular medications and maintain accurate medication records.
• Prepare patients for examinations and treatments, and ensure rooms and equipment are stocked.
• Provide health education, disease‑prevention advice, and referrals to social services as needed.

Required profile

• Associate degree in nursing from an accredited program.
• Current Georgia RN license.
• Three years of professional nursing experience (or one year at RN‑2 level).
• Current CPR certification.
• Experience in mental‑health nursing is a plus.

Required skills

• Medication administration (oral, sublingual, IM).
• Patient assessment and vital‑sign monitoring.
• Care planning and documentation.
• Knowledge of pharmacology and nursing policies.
• CPR and AED operation.

What we offer

• Salary range $72,000 – $94,000 per year, based on experience.
