Recreation Worker I – Parks & Recreation

About the role

The City of Draper is seeking enthusiastic Recreation Workers to support league and tournament sports. You will officiate games, keep scores, and supervise sites, ensuring safety and sportsmanship for participants of all ages. Work schedules vary between day, night, and weekends to match league activities.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as official, referee or umpire for basketball, baseball, flag football, soccer, softball and kickball, enforcing rules and maintaining safety.
• Keep accurate scores for assigned games and assist referees with game management.
• Set up and break down fields or courts, transport equipment, and distribute materials to coaches and participants.
• Assist coaches with roster distribution and schedule coordination for practices and games.
• Supervise participants, coaches, spectators and facilities, resolve conflicts on‑site and report issues to the Recreation Coordinator.
• Conduct safety inspections, prepare reports, and comply with all Draper City policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum age 16 years.
• Valid Utah driver’s license.
• No specific education or prior experience required; preference given to candidates with knowledge of sports.
