Raw Material Operator

About the role

IKO Industries Ltd. is a manufacturer of roofing and building materials, and is hiring a Raw Material Operator for its IKO Glass Fiber facility in Chester, South Carolina. The position is full time within the Production department and involves handling batch and binder raw materials, keeping batch areas clean and reporting issues to engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Responsible for batch inventory, quality and supply to the furnace, and for batch unloading, inspection and documentation
• Clean the batch house and binder area daily and report downtime or scrap incidents to the Furnace Engineer
• Unload and store received batch raw materials in the proper silos, and perform batch inbound inspection, sampling and inventories
• Troubleshoot batch and binder system issues and assist the Furnace Engineer, Quality Manager and Process Engineer
• Maintain binder mix and circulating tanks, check solids, LOI and moisture, and report binder scrap to the Quality Manager and Process Engineer
• Store received binder raw materials, perform binder inbound inspection, sampling and inventories, and troubleshoot sizing system issues
• Perform any other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Three or more years of manufacturing experience; prior glass operations experience is beneficial but not required
• Ability to work in a high-temperature environment and to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders and work from heights, and to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, reach and grasp regularly
• Willingness to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule covering days and nights
• Some travel required
