Radiologist Assistant – Imaging Specialist

About the role

The Radiologist Assistant performs a variety of imaging procedures, ensures patient safety, and serves as the first line interface with patients and clinicians. This role supports continuous quality improvement within the radiology practice at Ochsner Health.

Key responsibilities

• Perform static and dynamic fluoroscopic procedures and evaluate image quality, recommending additional images when needed.
• Report observations to the radiologist, provide post‑care instructions, and prepare discharge summaries for radiologist review.
• Perform general radiographic procedures as required and document all procedures accurately in patient records.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Adapt communication and behavior to respect patient privacy, obtain necessary permissions, and tailor explanations to diverse patient populations.

Required profile

• Completion of an accredited Radiologist Assistant or Radiology Practitioner Assistant program with a BS in Advanced Radiologic Sciences.
• ARRT registration as a Registered Radiologist Assistant (RRA) with advanced registration in cardiovascular/interventional radiography.
• State license in Medical Radiation Technology and current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation standards applicable to radiology.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications.
• Ability to perform static and dynamic fluoroscopic procedures.
