Quality Assurance Manager – Brewing

About the role

The Quality Assurance Manager leads key quality initiatives for Brewing Quality Assurance at the Columbus Brewery. The role focuses on food safety, microbiology, sanitation, quality performance and continuous improvement while partnering with operations and brewery leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Track and monitor all critical quality metrics, including food safety, microbiology and consumer complaints.
• Lead continuous improvement of quality policies, critical control points and plant cleaning/sanitation programs.
• Interact with government agencies on food‑safety inspections and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Evaluate new suppliers to reduce costs and improve results.
• Utilize VPO tools, root‑cause analysis and PDCA/SDCA cycles to close performance gaps.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Food/Brewing Science, Microbiology, Engineering or related field (MBA a plus).
• Minimum five years of experience in the food and beverage industry with strong knowledge of brewing and packaging processes.
• In‑depth understanding of food safety laws, GMPs, HACCP, pest and allergen control.
• Proven leadership, change‑management and cross‑functional collaboration skills.

Required skills

• Food safety regulations and GFSI standards (BRC, FSSC22000, SQF).
• Microbiology methods specific to brewing.
• Plant sanitation techniques (CIP/COP).
• Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).
• Data analysis, root‑cause analysis and VPO tools.
