Public Works Foreman (Full-Time)

About the role

The Public Works Foreman supports the Assistant Public Works Director in supervising, planning and executing street and storm‑drainage projects for the City of South Padre Island. This full‑time, onsite role leads crews that maintain roads, medians, right‑of‑ways, beach areas and related infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and oversee construction, repair and maintenance of streets, drainage systems and related facilities.
• Supervise daily work assignments, train crew members and ensure compliance with city standards.
• Manage inventory, materials, supplies and equipment, guaranteeing availability and proper maintenance.
• Inspect completed work, enforce safety procedures and report progress to the Assistant Public Works Director.
• Coordinate special projects such as holiday event set‑ups, barricade placement and signage installation.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising public‑works or construction crews.
• Strong knowledge of street, drainage and beach maintenance practices.
• Ability to read and interpret technical plans and city standards.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings and on‑call situations.
