Public Information Officer (Temporary)

About the role

The United Nations Department of Global Communications is seeking a Public Information Officer on a temporary, full‑time basis. Based in New York, you will join the News and Content Branch of the News and Media Division, supporting UN News across multiple languages and platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse current events, public opinion and press coverage, advising management on appropriate responses.
• Write and produce multimedia feature stories for the UN News website, incorporating audio, video and graphics.
• Plan and execute media activities (photos, videos, audio) for major conferences, campaigns and events, including media strategy, outreach and press‑conference organization.
• Conduct interviews, gather audio‑visual material, perform digital editing, create podcasts and ensure timely coverage of UN developments.
• Work flexible hours, including regular weekend duty shifts and evenings as needed.
