Public Information Intern – Justice and Corrections Service

About the role

The Public Information Intern will support the Justice and Corrections Service (JCS) in its mission to strengthen rule‑of‑law and justice institutions within UN peace operations. Working from the United Nations premises in New York, the intern will gain hands‑on experience in strategic communication, multimedia production, and data‑driven outreach.

Key responsibilities

• Assist JCS with strategic communication and public outreach on justice, corrections, and rule‑of‑law topics.
• Develop and design communications and multimedia content for web and social‑media platforms.
• Create and edit publications such as fact sheets, brochures, newsletters, and donor updates.
• Conceptualize data visualizations and interactive content using design software.
• Research, compile, and draft material for social‑media posts.
• Monitor and analyse social‑media metrics and web analytics (Talkwalker, Twitter Analytics, Facebook Insights).
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to listen, interpret messages accurately, and ask clarifying questions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Interest in justice, corrections, and rule‑of‑law issues in peacekeeping contexts.
