Public Health Registered Nurse – Jones County

About the role

The Georgia Department of Public Health seeks a Registered Nurse to join the Jones County Health Department. You will deliver professional nursing care focused on disease prevention, health promotion, and emergency response for the community.

Key responsibilities

• Provide nursing care according to DPH protocols, including medication and vaccine administration.
• Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests to guide treatment.
• Deliver patient education, counseling, and referrals to appropriate services.
• Perform women’s wellness services, contraceptive counseling, and enroll patients in breast and cervical cancer programs.
• Screen, test, and treat sexually transmitted diseases and administer tuberculosis testing.
• Conduct child health and vision screenings and provide primary care services as needed.
• Participate in emergency preparedness planning and response activities.
• Maintain thorough documentation in the electronic medical record system.

Required profile

• Associate degree in nursing and current Georgia RN license.
• At least one year of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire.
• CPR certification.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
• CPR certification.
