Public Assistance Grants Specialist

About the role

The Public Assistance Grants Specialist supports the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security agency by managing FEMA Public Assistance grant programs. This role ensures that federal disaster assistance funds are administered, monitored, and closed out in compliance with regulations, while providing technical assistance to local governments.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and manage FEMA Public Assistance grant funds, including award processing and reimbursement.
• Review and evaluate complex grant applications and related documentation.
• Monitor grantee compliance with grant policies, conduct on‑site evaluations, and prepare progress reports.
• Analyze expenditures to ensure alignment with program guidelines and prepare financial documentation for audits and closeout.
• Maintain accurate grant files, databases, ledgers, and records.
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to sub‑recipients on eligibility, application procedures, and reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Experience in grant management, preferably with FEMA Public Assistance or similar disaster assistance programs.
• Strong understanding of federal grant regulations, financial accountability, and audit processes.
• Excellent analytical skills to assess project effectiveness and expenditure compliance.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and communicate clearly with local government officials.
