About the role
The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities in Georgia seeks a board‑certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP‑BC) to deliver comprehensive psychiatric care to a diverse patient population. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of mental health conditions.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and mental status examinations across the lifespan.
- Develop evidence‑based treatment plans that may include pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, and other therapeutic modalities.
- Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Provide individual and group therapy using appropriate therapeutic techniques.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records and document all clinical activities.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and quality‑improvement initiatives.
- Offer crisis intervention and emergency psychiatric services as needed.
Required profile
- Current, unrestricted APRN license in Georgia with a specialty in Psychiatric Mental Health.
- Board certification as a PMHNP‑BC.
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a psychiatric mental health focus.
- Minimum of 4 years of clinical experience as a PMHNP.
Required skills
- Electronic health records (EHR) documentation.
