Project Controller (Insulation Projects)

About the role

This Project Controls position reports to the Director, Project Controls and monitors project performance through cost management, forecasting, labor productivity analysis, earned value, schedule awareness, change management and performance reporting. It works closely with Project Management, Operations, Field Supervision, Finance and Project Controls leadership. Industrial insulation or mechanical insulation experience is strongly preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor project performance against approved budgets, forecasts, schedules and production expectations.
• Develop and maintain cost forecasts, including Estimate to Complete (ETC) and Estimate at Completion (EAC).
• Analyze labor hours, cost performance, installed quantities and earned progress to identify productivity trends.
• Track earned versus burned labor hours, Project Performance Factor (PF), CPI and earned value, and support weekly and monthly performance reporting.
• Assist with manpower forecasts and labor histograms, and review labor allocations and cost coding.
• Support change-order management, including identification, tracking, documentation, pricing support and status reporting.
• Identify cost, schedule, productivity and execution risks, perform variance analysis and help plan corrective actions.
• Reconcile field reporting, Procore, accounting systems and internal dashboards, and prepare performance summaries for managers and executives.
• Participate in project reviews, forecasting meetings and WIP meetings, and occasionally visit active construction sites.

Required profile

• Previous experience in Project Controls, Cost Control, Project Engineering or a related construction-management function.
• Strong understanding of construction cost control and forecasting, and of budgets, actual costs, commitments and earned progress.
• Experience analyzing labor productivity and communicating findings to project and operations leadership.
• Preferred: industrial insulation experience, earned value, Rules of Progress, PF, CPI, ETC/EAC, Procore, ERP or construction accounting systems, Power BI, and large industrial or data center projects.

Required skills

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and data analysis.
• Attention to detail and ability to validate information independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork across Project Management, Operations, Finance, Scheduling and Project Controls.
