Project Assessor – Building Assessment Specialist

About the role
The Project Assessor leads the direction, completion and outcome of building assessment projects in line with ASTM standards and client‑specific scopes. The role combines on‑site field work, technical reporting and client communication, requiring frequent travel to project sites across the United States.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct a wide range of building assessments, including Property Condition Assessments, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Facility Condition Assessments, energy audits, accessibility reviews and structural surveys.
- Perform physical surveys of mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, roofs, foundations and common areas, documenting deficiencies and measuring quantities for cost estimation.
- Interview owners, tenants, service providers and local authorities to gather contextual information.
- Prepare detailed written reports using computers, tablets or iPads, integrating field notes, photographs and interview data.
- Communicate project status, issues and report delivery timelines to the leadership team.
- Review existing property records, repair histories, regulatory documents and coordinate with building, zoning and fire departments.
Required profile
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 90 % of the time, including overnight stays and weekend travel.
- Physical capability to meet the demands of on‑site inspections and equipment handling.
- Strong analytical and reasoning abilities to interpret data, define problems and draw valid conclusions.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other word‑processing and spreadsheet software.
- Experience using project‑management tools such as Quire and AssetCalc.
- Ability to operate an electronic tablet for live data collection in the field.
- Knowledge of ASTM standards and construction‑material assessment techniques.
