Programme Monitoring and Evaluation Intern

About the role

The Programme Monitoring and Evaluation Intern will support the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) in strengthening its monitoring and evaluation capacity. Working within the Programme, Monitoring and Evaluation Unit at UN Headquarters, the intern will assist senior staff in preparing programme plans, reports and analytical briefs related to sustainable development.

Key responsibilities

• Support drafting and review of DESA’s 2028 programme plan.
• Prepare background papers, senior-level talking points, meeting summaries, concept notes and presentations.
• Consolidate inputs for gender equality, disability inclusion and multilingualism reporting.
• Assist in drafting and reviewing monitoring and evaluation reports, evaluations and audits.
• Collect, review and analyse data from evaluations and audits.
• Follow up on implementation of findings and recommendations.
• Research and present information on economic, social and sustainable development topics.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree.
• Strong English drafting ability, detail‑oriented and able to produce high‑quality documents.
• Computer literate with good knowledge of standard software applications.
