Programme Management Officer – UN Counter‑Terrorism

About the role

The United Nations Office of Counter‑Terrorism seeks a Programme Management Officer to support the Director of the United Nations Counter‑Terrorism Centre. The role involves designing, implementing and evaluating programmes that strengthen counter‑terrorism capacity, promote rule of law and integrate gender perspectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, monitor and evaluate assigned programmes and projects, preparing reports, identifying issues and initiating corrective actions.
• Build and maintain relationships with national counterparts, UN agencies and civil‑society partners, and coordinate policy development and outreach activities.
• Lead the organization of meetings, workshops and conferences, including agenda setting, participant selection and preparation of briefing materials.
• Support budgeting processes, prepare programme budgets, progress reports and financial statements.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in business administration, management, economics or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum seven years of progressively responsible experience in programme or project management, including senior‑manager support and front‑office work.
• Experience in counter‑terrorism, prevention of violent extremism programmes and drafting analytical papers on sensitive topics.
• Fluent English (UN Level II); Arabic is desirable.
