Program Lead – SL5 Fieldbuilder Fellowships

About the role

Security Level 5 is a Bay Area AI security nonprofit seeking a Program Lead to build and run its SL5 Fieldbuilder fellowship and community initiatives. The role will design fellowship programs, coordinate events, and turn the San Francisco office into a hub for AI security experts.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and launch the SL5 fellowship program, recruiting senior security experts and high‑potential engineers for the first cohort in Q4.
• Design and run workshops, panel discussions, conferences and quarterly “Happy Hours” to foster collaboration across AI labs, verification groups and partner organisations.
• Build and manage the AI Security Fieldbuilding program, increasing awareness and short‑term action on SL5 verification and security topics.
• Create and execute a community‑engagement strategy for the SF office, including collaborator lunches, research visits and other outreach activities.
• Own content, branding, invitations and network‑building for all fellowship and event initiatives, working with the CEO and operations team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math or a related field.
• Proven experience running competitive fellowship programs with multiple iterations and cohorts of 10+ fellows.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit top‑tier security talent capable of receiving offers from leading AI labs.
• Strong operational skills for managing complex, multi‑stakeholder programs.
• Excellent interpersonal abilities to navigate community health topics with professionalism, nuance and mindfulness.
• Enjoys proactive outreach and engaging diverse individuals across cultures, specialties and ages.

What we offer

• Base salary range $150,000 – $220,000 per year, with potential for higher compensation for exceptional candidates.
