Product Quality Assurance Specialist

About the role

ABB is hiring a Product Quality Assurance Specialist for its Florence, SC facility, reporting to the Quality Manager. The role verifies the quality of incoming raw materials, parts and components, documents inspection findings and takes action such as rejecting non-conforming items or notifying suppliers. It is an onsite position.

Key responsibilities

• Perform visual inspection of incoming items for visible defects and dimensional checks using tools such as calipers and micrometers
• Record inspection findings, tag defects and initiate disposition actions such as returns to supplier or scrap
• Act as internal auditor and take part in supplier audits for compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and 10 CFR Part 50 Appendix B
• Report quality issues to suppliers and work with the Supplier Quality Engineer
• Maintain Quality Plans, Control Plans and inspection checklists, and monitor QA metrics to improve vendor product quality
• Maintain and comply with the Quality notification process

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or similar, with at least 3 years of experience in a Quality department as Incoming Inspection Engineer or Product Quality Assurance Engineer, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Prior management or leadership experience
• Authorization to work for ABB in the US
• Desirable: ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor certification and knowledge of 10 CFR Part 50 Appendix B

Required skills

• SAP Quality Module experience (required)
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
• Proficiency with measuring tools and inspection equipment
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
