Quality Specialist

About the role

Givaudan is hiring a Quality Specialist in Florence, USA, to maintain the local Quality and Food Safety programs aligned with global policies, regulatory and customer requirements. The role also covers local Vendor and Customer Quality Programs and Customer Complaints management. It sits within the Site Local Quality team with no direct reports, and works closely with Operations, Global/Regional Quality, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Production and Regulatory.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain local Quality and Food Safety programs, documentation and compliance programs such as halal, kosher, USDA and organic
• Perform internal audits and monthly food safety inspections, and lead internal and customer-focused quality and food safety system requirements
• Manage food safety non-conformances, including root cause analysis, trend analysis and follow-up
• Support customer, regulatory and certification audits, and drive improvement plans
• Perform and report on vendor audits
• Manage customer complaints, respond to them and escalate where needed, while improving complaint performance
• Provide mentoring on quality and food safety to all staff and take part in site quality and food safety improvement projects

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science or a related field
• 1+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Management or Quality Control
• Preferred: background in ISO 9001, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, FDA PCQI, Food Defense, kosher, halal, USDA and organic compliance; preferred HACCP and PCQI certifications (not required)
• Preferred: lead or internal auditor experience

Required skills

• Preferred: SAP, databases and Microsoft Office, including Excel data analysis, formulas, pivot tables and charts

• Salary range of $75,000 - $85,000 depending on experience
