Product Manager - Industrial Machinery and VFDs

About the role

ABB is hiring a Product Manager for General Purpose Drive products in its New Berlin, WI location, within the Motion Drive Products division. The role has local (US) responsibility for the General-Purpose drive product line for PG Drive Products and BL Drives, reporting to the Manager of Product Management for Segment & General Purpose Drives. It is a hybrid position with 25% domestic travel and requires a valid US driver's license.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technical and market specifications of regional products and define an offering plan that supports sustainable growth.
• Lead the regional life-cycle management process, tracking performance metrics and deciding on upgrades, cost cuts, obsolescence and end-of-life.
• Act as the technical interface between the local market and internal cross-functional teams, and take part in product development stage gates and production ramp-up.
• Participate in or lead the commercial launch and define the regional market/segment attack strategy, covering product, pricing and go-to-market activities.
• Monitor competitors' offerings, evaluate technologies and pricing, and define new product plans with technical, price, cost and application targets.
• Drive feature development from customer value, coordinate cross-functional teams and work with Global Product Management, the local Product Market Manager and marketing on market communication and launch planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience in a complex global business environment, or an Associate degree with 10 years.
• Progressive experience in product management and customer relationship management.
• Background in sales and/or managing customer relationships across the full customer lifecycle is preferred.
• Proven cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder engagement and strategic mindset.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Valid US driver's license and US work authorization.

Required skills

• Fundamental understanding of general machinery used in refrigeration systems, pumps, fans, compressors, conveyors and extruders.
• Technical understanding of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and their industrial applications is highly preferred.
