Private Equity Associate – Junior/Mid Level (NY)

About the role

Whistler Partners is partnering with a leading corporate law firm to hire a Private Equity Associate in New York. The role offers a blend of private equity and M&A work within a well‑resourced practice, allowing you to develop deal judgment and take ownership of key transaction components.

Key responsibilities

• Support private equity and M&A transactions, including leveraged buyouts, independent sponsor deals, roll‑ups, minority and junior capital investments, going‑private transactions, and distressed acquisitions.
• Draft and negotiate transactional documents.
• Manage workstreams and see transactions through from start to finish.
• Collaborate directly with clients, partners, colleagues, and deal teams.
• Leverage legal technology and AI tools to streamline research, drafting, and analysis.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of mergers and acquisitions experience.
• Private‑equity‑focused M&A experience or acquisition work for private‑equity funds is preferred.
• Strong drafting ability across transactional documents.
• Excellent academic record.
• Strong written and oral communication, with client‑service focus.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Interest in using technology to enhance strategic work.
