Principal Software Engineer TS/SCI w/Poly

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to support its Advanced Analytics Team. The engineer works closely with mission stakeholders to analyze software requirements, design technical solutions, develop software applications and implement high-performance capabilities supporting advanced mission objectives. The position is not safety-sensitive.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, debug and maintain software applications supporting mission requirements.
• Analyze customer needs, develop software prototypes, engineer technical solutions, implement algorithms and translate conceptual designs into scalable software architectures.
• Work at the operating system level, including file I/O, system interfaces and low-level programming concepts.
• Develop advanced tools for binary analysis, shellcode detection, malware analysis, function identification and reverse engineering of compiled software.

Required profile

• Security clearance: TS/SCI Poly.
• Experience requirement: doctoral degree plus 7 years, master's plus 9 years, bachelor's plus 11 years, associate's plus 13 years, or high school diploma/GED plus 15 years of relevant experience.
• Preferred: familiarity with malware analysis, reverse engineering and protocol analysis.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Python and ability to read C++ and x86 Assembly.
• Object-oriented programming, software architecture, operating system design, compilers and debugging.
• Low-level software development, memory management, system APIs and executable program analysis.
