Principal Programme Management Officer

About the role

The Department of Peace Operations is seeking a senior professional to lead innovation and digital transformation initiatives across UN peacekeeping. Reporting to the DPET Director, the incumbent will shape and implement the Service’s work programme, driving data‑driven, digitally resilient approaches.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise activities related to innovation and the UN peacekeeping digital transformation strategy.
• Coordinate work across the Service’s teams (Digital Transformation, Innovation, CPAS/Evaluation, Information Integrity) and external partners such as OICT and peacekeeping missions.
• Ensure high‑quality outputs that support evidence‑based decision‑making, community‑centered peacekeeping, and resilience to information threats.
• Oversee data governance, interoperable data systems, and collaboration on data issues with relevant partners.
• Assist the DPET Director in preparing, updating, and implementing annual work plans and the Digital Transformation Implementation Plan.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading large‑scale innovation or digital transformation programmes.
• Strong supervisory and coordination skills across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to ensure compliance with UN mandates and high‑quality standards.
• Experience preparing strategic work plans and allocating resources effectively.
