Postdoctoral Scholar – Neural Circuit Memory Research

About the role

We are seeking a postdoctoral scholar to join Dr. Haam’s laboratory in the Department of Biological Sciences at Louisiana State University. The project focuses on uncovering the neural circuit mechanisms of memory formation using advanced experimental and computational methods.

Key responsibilities

• Design and perform in‑vivo or in‑vitro experiments to investigate memory circuits in the entorhinal cortex and related brain regions (≈60%).
• Analyze complex datasets, conduct literature reviews, and integrate findings with computational models (≈20%).
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory techniques (≈10%).
• Assist with grant writing and preparation of research proposals (≈5%).
• Present results at lab meetings, departmental seminars, and scientific conferences (≈5%).

Required profile

• PhD in Biological Sciences, Neuroscience, or a closely related field.
• Strong background in neuroscience techniques such as electrophysiology, molecular biology, rodent behavioral testing, and computational analysis.

Required skills

• Electrophysiology (in‑vivo or in‑vitro).
• Calcium imaging / photometry.
• Miniature endoscopy.
• Histology and transcriptome analysis.
• Computational data analysis and modeling.
