Postdoctoral Research Associate – Precision Agriculture

About the role

Texas A&M AgriLife Research in Temple is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to advance precision conservation in cropping systems. The role combines field observations, proximal and remote sensing, and advanced data analytics to generate actionable soil and agronomic intelligence.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate field, UAV, satellite, and yield monitor data with soil, weather, and environmental datasets.
• Develop and validate machine‑learning and AI models for sub‑field level predictions.
• Create soil and agronomic intelligence products that support precision management and conservation decisions.
• Build reusable R/Python workflows and generate profit‑risk‑environment trade‑off analyses.
• Publish peer‑reviewed papers and present findings with USDA‑ARS and university collaborators.
• Contribute to grant proposals and collaborative research projects.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Soil Science, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, Geosciences, Environmental Sciences, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong background in data‑intensive soil and agronomic analytics.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary research teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python and R for data analysis and modeling.
• Machine learning and AI model development.
• Geospatial modeling and GIS tools.
• Experience with proximal sensing, UAV, and satellite imagery.
• Ability to handle large, multi‑source agricultural datasets.
