Postdoctoral Research Associate – Crop Modeling & Remote Sensing

About the role

The Texas A&M AgriLife Research team in Temple, Texas seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to advance crop modeling, remote sensing, and geospatial technologies. The role involves interdisciplinary work to model crop growth, yield, water use, and carbon and nitrogen cycles under diverse agricultural management practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage field experiments, including ground‑truth data collection.
• Collect, process, and analyze remote sensing and geospatial datasets.
• Operate, test, validate, and refine crop models to improve prediction accuracy.
• Develop and apply machine‑learning and AI approaches for crop management and decision‑support.
• Prepare manuscripts for peer‑reviewed journals and contribute to competitive grant proposals.
• Present research findings at scientific conferences and meetings.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and perform related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• PhD in Agronomy, Geosciences, Environmental Sciences, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong background in agricultural remote sensing.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively in a team environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in handling remotely sensed geospatial datasets.
• Programming experience in R or Python.
• Experience with crop modeling and simulation.
• Knowledge of machine‑learning and AI techniques applied to agriculture.
