Port Engineer – Marine Transportation

About the role

Curtin Maritime is seeking a Dredge Port Engineer to support its expanding fleet operations in Long Beach, CA. The role combines shoreside engineering management with hands‑on involvement in vessel drydock projects and equipment maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Senior Port Engineer in coordinating vessel engineers, shore mechanics, and welders.
• Manage vessel drydock periods, track progress, budgets, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Oversee purchasing for vessel operations, review requisitions, and liaise with vendors.
• Maintain and update engineering tasks in the Helm Connect system.

Required profile

• Ability to handle stressful situations with focus and take ownership of tasks.
• Physical capability to work in confined spaces, lift up to 50 lb, climb ladders, and operate in all weather conditions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Helm Connect engineering software.
• Experience managing vessel drydockings and hands‑on mechanical repairs.
• Strong computer and administrative skills for purchasing and documentation.
