About the role
The Police Sergeant supervises a uniform patrol shift, overseeing officers and a communications officer on a 12‑hour rotating schedule.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise a uniform patrol shift including Police Officer 1, Police Officer 2, Police Officer 3 and a Communications Officer.
- Manage shift schedules (5 am‑5 pm or 5 pm‑5 am) with rotating days off/on.
- Report to the Police Lieutenant – Uniform Patrol.
Required profile
- At least three years of law‑enforcement experience (or equivalent education substitution).
- Valid Louisiana driver’s license and ability to obtain POST certification.
- Current Civil Service test score for the 2100‑PSE Protective Services Exam (unless exempt).
Required skills
- Defensive driving certification (Southeastern Defensive Driving Course).
- Firearm qualification (annual, if required).
