Police Officer (Level 1/2) – Law Enforcement

About the role

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Police Department is hiring for a training series position that can lead to a Police Officer Level 1 or Level 2 appointment, depending on the applicant’s qualifications. This role provides law‑enforcement services on the campus and surrounding community.

Key responsibilities

• Perform law‑enforcement duties as assigned by the university police department.
• Enforce campus policies and state laws, ensuring safety and security.
• Participate in defensive driving and other required training programs.

Required profile

• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid Louisiana driver’s license.
• Current Civil Service test score for the 2100‑PSE Protective Services Exam (or willingness to take the test).
• For Police Officer 2: minimum one year of law‑enforcement experience; Police Officer 1 requires no experience.
• Education substitution: 30 semester hours from an accredited college substitute for one year of experience.
• Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required.
• No felony convictions or indictments unless relief is granted.
