Plumbing Inspector

About the role

The Plumbing Inspector will conduct trade‑specific inspections of plumbing systems on data‑center projects throughout the Amarillo region and surrounding Texas counties. The role ensures new construction, upgrades, and existing facilities comply with the International Plumbing Code, Texas state regulations, and client standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review construction drawings, specifications, and single‑line diagrams for compliance with IPC/UPC and Texas plumbing codes.
• Perform on‑site inspections of water‑distribution, drainage, fire‑suppression, condensate, and mechanical‑room plumbing systems.
• Verify contractor adherence to approved plans, quality‑control checklists, and industry best practices; issue Notices of Correction.
• Generate written and electronic inspection reports, maintain logs and photographic records in the compliance database.
• Communicate code requirements and corrective actions to owners, contractors, and the public.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; associate degree in Plumbing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of journey‑level experience in municipal/plumbing inspection, commercial/industrial plumbing construction, or QA/QC roles.
• Valid Texas Plumbing Inspector or Master/Journeyman plumber license and ICC plumbing certification.
• Valid Texas driver’s license; OSHA 30‑hour certification preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop.
• Experience using inspection management systems, digital forms, and basic CAD/plan‑review tools such as AutoCAD and Bluebeam.
• Ability to capture and edit digital images for documentation.
• Technical writing for clear inspection reports and corrective‑action notices.
