Plant Utility – Production & Sanitation

About the role

The Plant Utility works on sanitation duties, line inspections and rework in a food production environment. Responsibilities include cleaning equipment, removing stagnant product, handling chemicals and ensuring product quality throughout the production cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning agents, mix chemicals safely and follow hazard and first‑aid procedures.
• Clean equipment using standard operating procedures, high‑pressure hoses, ladders, air hoses and hot‑water units.
• Remove cases from pallets, rework product by bag blending, tote dumping or sorting.
• Manually inspect raw and finished product for foreign material or quality defects and dispose of defective items.
• Perform firewatch duties and hold qualifications for confined‑space and elevated‑work tasks.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and actively participate in safety and GMP programs.

Required profile

• Ability to lift up to 50 lb, stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and perform repetitive arm, wrist and hand movements.
• Comfortable wearing a sanitation suit in hot or cold temperatures and working in noisy, wet or slippery conditions.
• Manual dexterity, good balance and coordination for work at ground level and on ladders.
• Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception and focus adjustment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of cleaning agents and safe chemical mixing.
• Operation of high‑pressure hoses, air hoses and hot‑water cleaning equipment.
• Use of ladders and tote‑dump equipment in a packaging environment.
• Firewatch procedures and confined‑space qualifications.
