Physician Nocturnist – Hospital Medicine

About the role

Ochsner Health in Slidell, LA is seeking board‑certified or board‑eligible Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physicians to join its Hospital Medicine team as nocturnists. You will provide overnight inpatient care on a 7‑on/7‑off schedule, working alongside a stable 50+ member group.

Key responsibilities

• Manage an average census of 14‑18 patients per night, delivering comprehensive inpatient care.
• Collaborate with dedicated RN and Social Work Clinical Care Coordinators to ensure coordinated discharge planning.
• Utilize E‑ICU intensivist support for critically ill patients across community hospitals.
• Document care using the EPIC electronic medical record system with remote access capabilities.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or board‑eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
• Willingness to work a 7‑on/7‑off night schedule with flexibility.
• Commitment to academic involvement, including teaching medical students and residents.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the EPIC EMR platform.
• Experience with E‑ICU or critical care support workflows.
