Physical Therapy Assistant - PRN - Acute Care

About the role

Ochsner Health seeks a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) on an as‑needed (PRN) basis to support acute‑care patients at the Baton Rouge Medical Center. The PTA will deliver routine treatments under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist and document patient progress.

Key responsibilities

• Perform physical therapy treatments as prescribed by the physician and supervised by a licensed Physical Therapist.
• Document changes in patient status, communicate updates to the supervising therapist, and maintain accurate patient records.
• Participate in staff and committee projects, achieving productivity targets set by administration.
• Educate and train other staff members as needed and adapt communication style to the patient population.
• Comply with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as hospital policies regarding patient safety and privacy.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
• Current Physical Therapy Assistant license in the state of practice or eligibility for licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• No prior work experience required.
