About the role
The Physical Security Advisor is responsible for implementing and managing physical security measures to safeguard personnel, equipment, facilities, materials and documents. The role requires deep knowledge of NISPOM, SCIF compliance and related security disciplines.
Key responsibilities
- Provide project design oversight for SCIF builds to meet ICD/ICS 705 accreditation, including construction, escort, TEMPEST and CST requirements.
- Oversee facility security operations such as access control, intrusion detection and CCTV systems.
- Manage the positive control of classified accountable items and ensure compliance with contract security specifications (DD Form 254).
- Train employees on alarm procedures, support investigations of security incidents, and develop SOPs, OPSEC and emergency/disaster recovery plans.
- Coordinate secure movement of classified or unclassified contract materials, maintaining chain of custody and media control.
- Conduct security assessments, maintain safe and lock documentation, and prepare audit materials.
- Travel up to 25% of the time and work with DISS, NBIS and SIMS systems.
Required profile
- BS/BA degree in a related field or equivalent military/industry experience.
- Minimum five years of industrial security experience.
- Top Secret clearance with a recent investigation and successful CI polygraph.
- Current U.S. passport and willingness to travel.
- Preferred certifications: ICD‑705, CST, CTTA, TEMPEST mitigation.
Required skills
- ICD 705 (all chapters) and technical specifications for secure facility construction.
- National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) knowledge.
- DoD Instruction 5200.48 (CUI) and COMSEC policy guidance.
- Joint Air Force‑Army‑Navy (JAFAN) Manual 6/0.
- Technical writing and analytical abilities.
- Experience with DISS, NBIS and SIMS systems.
- Knowledge of TEMPEST mitigation, CST and CTTA certifications.
