Pharmacy Specialist - Rheumatology

About the role

The Pharmacy Specialist will join an interdisciplinary team within UAMS Specialty Pharmacy Services – Rheumatology, delivering pharmacy services that emphasize safety, efficacy, and positive patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and ensure therapy appropriateness regarding safety, comorbidities, dosing, and side‑effect management.
• Develop and manage disease‑state management agreements with providers and document clinical interventions.
• Provide drug information, defend product use to payers, and participate in 24/7 on‑call rotation.
• Monitor patient compliance, hospital admissions, and coordinate communication between patients and the clinic.
• Participate in quality‑improvement projects, serve on the Quality Management Committee, and train staff, students, and residents.

Required profile

• Graduate of an ACPE‑accredited College of Pharmacy with a Pharm.D. or BS in Pharmacy.
• PGY1 residency training or at least three years of relevant experience.
• Licensed (or eligible for licensure) by the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy.
• Preferred: Board certification in a relevant area and five years of applicable experience.

Required skills

• Clinical pharmacy knowledge and medication therapy management.
• Ability to conduct patient assessments and document interventions.
