Per Diem Registered Nurse – Skilled Unit (Decatur, GA)

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a PRN (as‑needed) Registered Nurse to work on the Skilled Unit at Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta in Decatur, GA. This part‑time, hourly position provides skilled nursing care to individuals with profound to severe developmental disabilities who require a high level of medical support.

Key responsibilities

• Assess client health problems, develop and implement individualized nursing care plans, and maintain accurate medical records.
• Administer prescribed medications, including oral, sublingual, and IV therapies, and document administration details.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary health‑care team to evaluate and adjust client care plans.
• Monitor client conditions, diet, and physical activity, recording any changes or symptoms.
• Provide education to clients and families on health maintenance, disease prevention, and care procedures.
• Prepare examination rooms, sterile instruments, and ensure supply inventories are stocked.

Required profile

• Active Georgia RN license.
• Current CPR certification; ability to perform CPR and operate an AED where required.
• Experience in skilled nursing or developmental disability settings is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to document accurately.

Required skills

• Medication administration (oral, sublingual, IV) and pharmacology knowledge.
• Understanding of nursing policies, procedures, and the Nurse Practice Act.
• Immunization regulations and protocols.
• Basic nursing assessment and care planning.
