Peer Support Specialist – Program Administrator

About the role

The Peer Support Specialist will work under the direction of the Prince George's County Department of Corrections and the Rebirth Substance Use Treatment (RSUT) Program Clinical Coordinator. This contract position provides coaching, emotional support, and resource navigation for individuals in recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Meet with substance‑use treatment professionals to develop client treatment plans.
• Provide individual coaching and facilitate support‑group sessions.
• Connect clients to housing, employment, and additional treatment resources.
• Assist clients in managing appointments with substance‑use or mental‑health providers.
• Report health and safety concerns to the care team and help maintain accreditation standards.
• Document recovery reviews and maintain HIPAA‑compliant electronic health records.

Required profile

• High‑school diploma with college coursework in business, psychology, or sociology.
• At least six months of experience requiring independent judgment.
• Preferred: two years of lived recovery experience and certification as a Peer Support/Recovery Specialist in Maryland.

Required skills

• Experience using the Epic medical record system.
