Payroll Specialist

About the role

Discovery Land Company is seeking a full‑time Payroll Specialist to support multi‑state payroll operations at its Scottsdale corporate office. The role partners with HR, Finance and IT to ensure accurate, compliant payroll processing.

Key responsibilities

• Process bi‑weekly, semi‑monthly and off‑cycle payrolls, reviewing data for accuracy.
• Audit earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments and benefit deductions.
• Maintain payroll data in Workday, support testing, upgrades and system improvements.
• Serve as primary liaison with OneSource Virtual to resolve processing and tax issues.
• Coordinate payroll tax filings, registrations for new entities and jurisdiction setups.
• Generate payroll reports, reconcile accounts and support month‑end close.
• Act as backup for the Payroll Manager, leading approvals and projects during absences.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of payroll experience in a multi‑state environment.
• Hands‑on experience with Workday Payroll and OneSource Virtual services.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state and local payroll tax regulations.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reporting and analysis.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
