Patient Care Technician

About the role

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) works as a trained member of the unit‑based team, supporting the delivery of care under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. The role focuses on basic patient care tasks, safety protocols, and documentation within the Department of Nursing standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms and assist with medical procedures and examinations.
• Conduct patient interviews, measure vital signs, perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic dressing changes.
• Register and schedule patients using the hospital’s registration and scheduling systems.
• Maintain clean, organized work environments and track patient supplies.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Successful completion of a patient care technician course within three months of hire.

Required skills

• Phlebotomy.
• Electrocardiogram (EKG) performance.
• Vital signs measurement (pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height).
• Basic dressing changes.
