Patent Prosecution Associate – Chemistry

About the role

A leading intellectual property law firm is seeking a Patent Prosecution Associate to join its established Chemical practice in Atlanta. The successful attorney will advise sophisticated clients on patent prosecution, freedom‑to‑operate, due diligence and broader IP counseling matters, with exposure to substantial global patent portfolios.

Key responsibilities

• Advise clients on patent prosecution, freedom‑to‑operate, due diligence and broader IP counseling.
• Manage day‑to‑day portfolio activities and supervise technical specialists.
• Participate in client meetings and coordinate with global patent teams.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of experience in patent prosecution, FTO, due diligence and counseling.
• Experience managing large patent portfolios and direct client interaction.
• Strong scientific background in organic chemistry and small‑molecule research; advanced degree preferred.
• J.D. with USPTO registration and admission in a state where the firm has an office.
• Excellent drafting, analytical abilities and a sophisticated understanding of chemical technologies.
