Part‑Time Homemaker Aide for Senior Center

About the role

The City of Marquette is seeking a part‑time Homemaker Aide to support seniors served by the Marquette Senior Center. You will create your own schedule, working Monday‑Friday, and provide essential household assistance that helps seniors remain independent in their homes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform light housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and cleaning bathrooms and kitchens.
• Assist with light meal preparation when authorized by the Social Work Coordinator.
• Handle laundry duties, including washing, drying, folding, and ironing.
• Shop for groceries and run occasional errands for assigned clients.
• Complete daily client records and participate in periodic client reviews.
• Refer clients to caseworkers for any special needs or concerns.

Required profile

• Valid Michigan driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed).
• Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 75 lb and frequent standing and walking.
• Previous housekeeping experience preferred.
• Interest in working with an elderly clientele.

Required skills

• Physical stamina to handle light to moderate manual tasks.
• Basic knowledge of household cleaning techniques and safe food handling.

What we offer

• Hourly wage of $16.48 – $17.92, paid bi‑weekly with future step increases.
• Flexible schedule of 10‑16 hours per week, chosen by the employee.
