Part‑Time Educational Aide – Wilkes RYDC

About the role

This part‑time position supports teachers in delivering a safe and stimulating educational environment at the Wilkes Regional Youth Detention Center in Washington, GA.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers with daily classroom activities, lesson planning, and preparation of teaching aids.
• Present subject matter to students using stories, discussions, role‑playing and other interactive methods.
• Provide individual or group assistance to students on lesson assignments.
• Perform clerical duties such as preparing, typing, copying, and filing instructional materials.
• Operate and maintain instructional equipment and materials.
• Observe and manage student behavior according to approved procedures.
• Participate in professional growth activities and follow district policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED (minimum).
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Experience working with at‑risk youth.
• Experience as a teacher’s aide or office clerk.
• Paraprofessional certification is a plus.
