Part-Time Unarmed Security Officer (Retail Access Control)

About the role

Allied Universal, a security and facility services company, is hiring a part-time unarmed security officer in Livonia, Michigan. The officer serves and safeguards clients in retail and mall locations, monitors assigned areas, conducts routine patrols and supports access control. The schedule is day time, Saturday 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM and Sunday 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and the pay rate is $17.00 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Provide customer service to customers, employees and visitors by carrying out security procedures, site policies and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond calmly to incidents, customer disturbances and critical situations, following reporting and escalation procedures.
• Carry out regular and random unarmed patrols of the store, parking areas, loading areas and perimeter to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and report suspicious behaviour, hazards and policy violations to site management and Allied Universal leadership.
• Document incidents, patrols and observations accurately.

Required profile

• At least one year of security-related experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Age 18 or older for unarmed roles (21+ for armed roles).
• Preferred: access control and badge experience, ability to lift up to 20 pounds, comfort using a computer or tablet.
• Subject to a background investigation and a drug screen to the extent permitted by law; licensing may be required depending on state and local law.
